The last 2 weekends I biked more cycle tours in the hills. Of course I woud have prefered to be at the start of the Dutch Championships Half Distance in Nieuwkoop this last weekend. Unfortunately it was not meant to be again this year. It hurts but I have to try and focus on the things I CAN do.
In the Pentecost weekend we bike de 142 kilometer version of Tilff-Bastogne-Tilff and last weekend the "La Chouffe Classic" which was 160 km and had 3100 height meters. Both tours were organised by the same organisation and had top aid stations and also people on the big crossroads. Besides that was parking also well arranged.
During the La Chouffe Classic you could test your climbing capabilities on 4 of the climbs. With the help of a chip your times were clocked on the following hills:
Although the last one was the shortest (distance wise), it was this last one which was really tough and steep. Especially in the beginning it was like climbing a wall. However, on the top you were rewarded with a ticket for a bottle of Chouffe beer. Not pertically my favourite drink, but enough people that would like to have it.
This week some typical Dutch rainy weather again. Today I biked two hours and had 3 showers of which 2 also included some thunder. However I stayed dry. By the way I was doing my training on the bushido from tacx (wind trainer
. At the same time I was able to watch a show I had missed on TV through the internet. I rather cycle outside but it had been a good decision this time. At the end of the week the promise us better weather, so for a change down south again.
